Integral Yoga Centre of Melbourne Inc (IYCM) is a non-profit incorporated association dedicated to serving the community through living and sharing the classical teachings of Integral Yoga. These teachings facilitate an easeful body, a peaceful mind, a useful life, and, ultimately, the realisation of our true Self. Anyone, from any background, any age, any capacity, can come and practise in community with others, find peace within themselves, and bring that peace into the world around them. Our activities include providing yoga classes, evening activities, retreats, day programs, workshops and teacher training.

Integral Yoga has been a presence in Victoria for close to 50 years including stand- alone centres in Melbourne, a residential retreat centre based at Ontos, Gippsland and a range of locations where yoga classes and programs have been offered across Melbourne and Victoria.   Integral Yoga Centre of Melbourne Inc. builds on that foundation.

Since 2000 the current leadership team have continued to build on the initiatives of the previous decades.  Between 2000 and 2005 Melbourne Integral Yoga Centre operated in Glenhuntly (Directors Chitra and Hridayan Stern) offering a range of classes, programs, evening activities, retreats, teacher training courses and hosting visits from international teachers.  Between 2005 and 2013 Integral Yoga teachers continued to offer yoga classes and other programs across a number of venues.

In 2013 a student-led initiative ‘Yoga Talks’ (facilitated by Deb Absler) established evening Satsang talks; in 2014 Victorian Integral Yoga Association (VIYA) was established (the leadership team between 2014 and 2018 has included Chitra and Hridayan Stern, Mitra Dema, Deb (Anandi) Absler, Simone O’Donnell, Asha Peer, Jivana Vains and Nalini Stewart); Between 2013 and 2018 our activities included 25 evening activities and 7 Retreats (residential and Melbourne based in 2015 and 2017 with Swami Ramananda, Director of San Francisco Institute);  a 12 month Living Yoga Program led by Chitra Stern and Mitra Dema; a 12 month Level One Teacher Training Course run by Chitra and Hridayan Stern, Mitra Dema and international teachers Swami Ramananda, Director of the Integral Yoga Institute San Francisco and Lakshmi Sutter.

Integral Yoga Centre of Melbourne Inc. was established in June 2018. Our committee consists of Chitra Stern, Mitra Dema, Anandi (Deb) Absler and Jivana Vains, Hridayan Stern, Lilavati Jakob and Nalini Stewart.
